The motto of the European Youth Parliament is "It can't be explained, it has to be lived through." I find that hard to believe, as EYP is certainly unique, but it can be compared to many other similar events (such as MUNs). What is really unique, though, is that from sunrise, all through the day, and until the night falls, you are with your committee and other delegates. It creates a certain sense of together-shared suffering, which can both strengthen and obliterate friendships made here.

As for the academic part, such as the committee work and debates, these proved very slow-paced, and during the two days very little actual work was done - but still, being mentally there all the time was difficult.

On the last day, we all gathered for the General Assembly. Unfortunately, it was planned so that we had to get up at 5:30 right after the social event, which lasted until around 2 a.m. Sleep-deprived, with brains running purely on caffeine, we sat and listened and critiqued. With the minimal use of AI-written speeches, it was a lot more pleasant than the regional assembly. Our resolution, on the importance of diversifying the supply of critical raw materials, passed with no issues. Thus, after what felt like a month, with smiles on our cheeks, we could call our work succesful.
